Dagger (Katar)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Dagger (Katar) by Unknown artist is a metal dagger with a long, thin blade that tapers to a point. The blade is gray with darker spots and a wavy pattern running along its length. A crossguard is positioned at the top of the blade. The crossguard is composed of two short arms that extend from the blade, curving outward and then back toward the blade. A long, thin spike extends upward from the top of the crossguard. The crossguard and spike are intricately decorated with small dots and lines. The handle is not visible. The background is a plain off-white color.
