Dagger (Jambiya) with Sheath

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The dagger has a curved, single-edged blade with a pointed tip. The blade is made of metal, likely steel, and exhibits a weathered appearance with visible signs of aging and wear. The blade's surface shows a dull gray color with darker spots. The hilt is made of brass or bronze and features a distinctive curved shape. A semicircular guard at the top of the hilt has a decorative inlaid design in the center. The grip is covered in a patterned metal material with a repeating diamond-like design. To the right of the dagger is its matching sheath, which is also made of metal with a similar weathered appearance. The sheath has a curved shape that matches the hilt and features a decorative pattern. Two small metal loops protrude from the top of the sheath, likely used for attachment to a belt. A piece of yellow material, possibly leather or fabric, is attached to the top portion of the sheath.
