The image shows a round, silver-colored medal with a raised profile portrait. The portrait depicts a man facing left, wearing a high-necked ruffled collar and a hat or headpiece. A beaded border encircles the medal; the top half of the border contains text. The text reads "FRANCISC II D G FRANC E REX" on the top and "SCOTIAE ET" on the right side. The bottom half of the border is undecorated. Below the medal are two small white rectangles; the top one has three short black lines, and the bottom one contains text reading "THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART 1922". The background is plain white.
