Sword Guard (Tsuba)

Round, dark brown metal object with a central hole and two smaller holes on either side. The central hole is shaped like a teardrop with the pointed end facing down and has a gold-colored base. Two oval-shaped holes are on either side of the central hole. The metal object features a relief sculpture of a monkey on the right side, climbing a branch with leaves. The monkey has gold-colored eyes and is positioned near the top right. The bottom left features a relief sculpture of reeds or grass. Small gold dots are scattered throughout the metal object. The background of the image is light gray. This is a Sword Guard (Tsuba) by an unknown artist.
