Pair of Stirrups

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Pair of Stirrups by Christofle are silver-colored with a rectangular piece at the top for the strap. The left stirrup features a twisted rope design around its edges. The right stirrup is decorated with an acanthus leaf pattern. Both stirrups have a flat base with small feet and a scalloped inner edge. The right stirrup's inner side appears smooth. A dark metal piece is visible inside the right stirrup. The background is a gradient from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom.
