Pair of Sword-Grip Ornaments (Menuki)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two metal ornaments, Pair of Sword-Grip Ornaments (Menuki) by artist, are shown against a gray background. The top ornament is elongated horizontally and features a gold flower with five petals at its center; the flower has a round, textured center. The gold flower is flanked by two black leaves on either side. The bottom ornament is similar in shape to the top one, but features a darker metal. It depicts a flower with many petals and some small gold flowers. Both ornaments have a three-dimensional appearance with raised details. The ornaments appear to be made of metal and have a traditional Japanese design.
