Sword Guard (Tsuba)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image of a Sword Guard (Tsuba) features a rusty metal object with a circular shape. The object is teardrop-shaped overall, wider at the top than at the bottom. The metal is dark brown and heavily rusted with pitted surface. There is a large oval hole in the center of the object, and a small hole in the shape of a semicircle near the bottom right. The object appears to be damaged at the bottom right edge. The background of the image is light gray.
