The Japanese sword guard, or tsuba, made by artist Honjo Masamune, features a predominantly dark brown background with a central hole on the left side and a keyhole-shaped hole in the center for the sword blade. A relief carving depicts a figure on the right side. The bottom displays an etched plant design.
