Upper Right Arm Defense (Vambrace) and Elbow Defense (Couter)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Metal arm defense with a cylindrical upper right arm piece. The cylindrical piece is positioned vertically and is wider at the top with small rivets around the edge. The metal has a weathered appearance with darker speckles across the surface. Attached to the bottom of the cylinder is a piece covering the elbow, made of multiple curved sections. The elbow piece is also made of weathered metal with darker speckles and has a more complex shape to allow for flexibility. There are rivets along the joint of the elbow piece. The background is plain and light-colored. The piece appears to be from a set of armor. It is labeled as an Upper Right Arm Defense and Elbow Defense. The style suggests it could be from the medieval period.
