Nakayama Tomisaburo in the role of An no Oyasu

Katsukawa Shun'ei 勝川春英

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

A man in traditional Japanese clothing, wearing a black robe with gold trim and a hat, stands facing right, looking over his left shoulder. His robe has a circular emblem on the left side of his chest and a white emblem on his left sleeve. A sword hangs at his side. He holds a wrapped object under his left arm. His robe drags on the ground behind him. In the background, there is a wall with vertical slats and a low railing. A bare tree branch extends from the top right corner. The image is in muted tones of black, gold, and beige. Japanese characters appear in the bottom right corner and at the top.
