Utagawa Hiroshige

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Woodblock print with a beige background and curved corners. A mountainous landscape with a body of water on the left. The water is greenish-blue and fades into a gray fog. A large gray and black rocky cliff juts out into the water on the left. Behind it are two mountain ranges, the one in front is gray and the one in back is blue. The sky fades from orange at the top to pink. On the right side, a cliff covered in beige dirt leads down to the water. A black ox with a red and white checkered cloth over its back walks on a path on the cliff. A person leads the ox. Three people stand or sit under a thatched roof to the right. A building with a fence and people is on the right edge. There are Japanese characters in black ink and two red seals.
