The Monkey Leader Angada Steals Ravana's Crown from His Fortress: Folio from the Siege of Lanka series

Manaku

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The painting depicts a vibrant scene with a large yellow fortress on the left side, featuring a white section resembling a gate. A monkey is shown leaping towards the right, wearing a red sash and a crown in his hand. To the right of the fortress, a circular gray pathway winds its way around. Several white horses with riders are positioned on this pathway and in mid-air, jumping over it. Some of these riders wear red and gold sashes. The pathway is surrounded by green grass, with black cows standing on it and a blue sky visible in the background. The entire scene is set against a beige background with scattered gray rocks at the bottom.
