The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The sculpture titled Patravahaka yaksha depicts a male figure with a large belly. He has a thick neck and a short neckline. The figure wears a short pleated dhoti that is wrapped around the waist and held in place with a wide sash. The figure is bearded and mustachioed; both the beard and mustache are rendered in thick rows of curls. The figure wears a head cloth and a necklace. Only the torso and upper thighs are depicted; the lower body ends just below the hips. The sculpture appears to be made of stone and is weathered, with much of the surface worn. The figure stands on a black stand with two rods that support it at the sides. The background is a gradient transitioning from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom.
