Globular Jar

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Globular Jar by Bernard Leach. A dark gray, bulbous ceramic vessel with a wide, rounded body. The jar's body is bulbous and roughly spherical. A short neck leads to a small, circular opening at the top. The top third of the jar features a decorative band with a repeating pattern of wavy lines. The jar's surface appears rough, with visible imperfections and a matte finish. A darker shadow is behind and to the left of the jar on a gradient background transitioning from light gray to dark gray.
