Girdle buckle

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

White jade girdle buckle with a design carved into it. The buckle has an irregular shape. A horse with a long mane and a dragon are carved into the buckle. The horse and dragon are surrounded by curving tendrils. The horse faces left and appears to be rearing up on its hind legs. The dragon's head faces right. The buckle has a smooth, glossy finish. Part of the buckle is broken off on the left. A black number is painted on the bottom. The buckle sits on two small metal stands on a gray surface against a gray background.
