Incense burner with cover

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Incense burner with cover by Unknown is a bronze artifact. It is a rounded vessel on a short base that flares slightly at the bottom and tapers towards the top then flares again to a rounded body. Two short handles protrude from either side and a small depression sits atop the rounded top. The body and lid are etched with several repeating designs around the circumference. The vessel sits on a brown wooden base carved with curled tendrils at the base of each corner where it meets the ground. The background is gray.
