Incense burner with cover

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Green jade incense burner with cover by unknown artist. The incense burner has a rounded body with a smaller, rounded lid on top. The body and lid are decorated with intricate carvings of leaves and vines. There are two handles on either side of the body, each shaped like a dragon or a mythical creature. The handles are also made of green jade. The incense burner sits on a black metal base that is decorated with more carvings of leaves and vines. The base has a wide, flat bottom and narrows towards the top, where it meets the green jade body of the incense burner.
