Amphora with dragon-shaped handles

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Amphora with dragon-shaped handles by Unknown Artist. Large ceramic vase with bulbous body, narrowing at the top and wider at the shoulder. The lower half of the vase is unglazed and roughly textured. The upper half of the vase transitions to a glossy black glaze that drips down unevenly from the shoulder. Two dragon-shaped handles emerge from the sides of the neck. Each handle features a head at the base and a leaf-like design curling out and back toward the vase at the top. The background of the image is gray.
