Set of Six Side Dishes (Mukōzuke) for Tea Gathering Meal (Cha-kaiseki)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Six small ceramic dishes with short stems, each with a wide mouth and slightly flared rim, are arranged in a row. The dishes are beige with brown and green designs. The designs feature triangular shapes resembling tents or mountains, accompanied by wavy lines and other geometric patterns. Some dishes have predominantly brown designs on the bottom half and predominantly green on the top half. The background transitions from dark gray at the top to light gray towards the bottom, with a white border on the right side.
