Covered Cup and Saucer

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Covered Cup and Saucer by Josiah Wedgwood features a covered cup with a wide mouth and a short cylindrical opening at the top. The cup has a wide body that tapers to a narrow base. The exterior of the cup is predominantly white with a pattern of black lines forming geometric shapes and floral motifs. There are eight rounded sections on the body of the cup, each containing a floral pattern. A wide white band encircles the middle of the cup. The saucer is not visible but implied to be present.
