Small Jar

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a white ceramic jar titled "Small Jar" by an unknown artist. The jar has a wide body with a narrow neck and mouth. It is predominantly white with a crackled glaze. The body of the jar is bulbous, curving inwards towards the top to form a short neck, then flaring out slightly at the mouth. A series of small vertical ridges encircles the jar just below the neck. The base of the jar is small and flat. The jar's surface features a crackled pattern, and there are some small brown spots visible on the lower part of the body and base. The background of the image is a gradient that transitions from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom. A shadow is cast to the right of the jar.
