Torque of Twisted Wire

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Torque of Twisted Wire, a metalwork piece by Irish artist John Lisney, is a large, circular object. The circle is made of numerous small, round metal coils that are stacked on top of each other, with a greenish-blue patina. The coils are of similar size and are densely packed, with no gaps between them. The circle is displayed on a short, thin metal pole attached to a square, flat base. The base is silver in color and has a slight shadow underneath it. The background is a plain wall with a horizontal line running across it, and the wall is a light beige color. The overall appearance is one of a dense, tightly coiled metal circle with a weathered appearance.
