The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Peaches on a Table by Ryūryūkyo Shinsai. A still life painting with a low table in the center-right. The table has a red frame and a green top with a recessed area. The recessed area contains black stones. A large brown bowl on the table contains peaches. The bowl is positioned toward the back of the table and slightly to the right. A few peaches are also on the table in front of the bowl. To the left of the table is a fly catcher with a red and white handle. The fly catcher has a long blue stick. Behind the table to the right is a tree with pink flowers and green leaves. The tree appears to be growing out of a rocky area. The background of the painting is beige. There are several lines of Japanese writing on the left side of the painting.
