The print depicts three men in traditional Japanese clothing. The men wear purple kimonos with white designs and red lining. Each man has a blue headband and a sword on his back. The man on the left stands and wipes his face with a white cloth; he also has tears on his face. The man in the middle stands behind the other two; he holds a white cloth to his face. The man on the right sits on the ground; he holds a green bracelet in his right hand and a white cloth to his face with his left hand. There are several Japanese characters written in black ink at the top left and along the left side of the print. There are also several red seals along the right side. The background of the print is beige. The print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi shows the men in a moment of distress or grief.
