Dark brown wooden sculpture of an old man carrying a woman on his back. The old man has a rounded face with a short curved nose, thin eyebrows and small mouth. He wears a robe with a curled up collar. His hair is styled in a topknot. The woman on his back has long hair and wears a kimono with a leaf design. She leans forward with her face close to the old man's neck. Her left arm drapes down on the old man's right shoulder. The old man's right arm bends up at the elbow and supports the woman's right leg which is tucked up against his right side. The woman's left leg hangs down by the old man's left side. The sculpture stands on a plain gray background with a shadow cast to the left.
