Keman (“Flower Garland” Temple Decoration)

Niiro Chōnosuke

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two identical metal hanging decorations, titled "Keman (“Flower Garland” Temple Decoration)” by Niiro Chōnosuke. The objects are symmetrical, with a large circle forming the main body. Inside the circle are two metal lotus flower-like structures, one above the other. The bottom flower faces upwards and the top one faces downwards. There are three teardrop-shaped metal pieces pointing down at the bottom of the circle. The metal appears to be dark and weathered. The background is a light-colored wall with some darker spots and marks. The objects appear to be hanging from thin strings.
