Keman (“Flower Garland” Temple Decoration)

Niiro Chōnosuke

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Black and white photograph of two circular temple decorations. The decorations are identical and symmetrical. Each has a thin metal loop forming a circle with three small teardrop-shaped metal pieces extending down from the bottom. Inside the circle, a metal lotus flower form sits at the bottom, with another lotus flower form above it, outside the circle, connected to the top of the loop. The lotus flowers are textured. The decorations hang from thin wires. The background is a plain light gray surface.
