Insignia of the Order of the Golden Kite

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The insignia of the Order of the Golden Kite is a Japanese military decoration. The item on the left has a light blue and white striped ribbon rosette at the top, with long tails of the same material hanging down. The ribbon is made of shiny satin and has a ruffled appearance at the top, with a circular shape. Attached to the ribbon is a star-shaped medal with a gold crown at the top. The star has a red, white, and blue center with red, white, yellow, and blue rays extending outwards. The item on the right is a smaller version of the star-shaped medal. Above the smaller medal is a small circular object with a design on it. The background of the image is a plain beige color.
