Stele with Maitreya and attendant bodhisattvas

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Stele with Maitreya and attendant bodhisattvas by Unknown. The image shows a stone carving with a pointed top resembling an arch. The carving features three main figures: one central figure and two on either side. The central figure has a halo behind their head, wears a robe, and has one hand raised in a greeting gesture and the other resting at their side holding an object. The two side figures are smaller and similar in style, each holding an object in one hand and having the other hand resting on their clothing; they also have halos. Above the central figure are carvings of flying beings with wings. The background of the carving has circular patterns, and the base appears to have a small inscription. The overall appearance is in grayscale.
