Ear Ornament for a Deity

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The object is an ornate ear ornament. It has a diamond-shaped top with a pointed tip at the top center. The top section is gold with turquoise, orange, purple, and clear stones arranged in a floral pattern. A circular design is in the center. Below the top section, there is a narrower section with a turquoise and orange design resembling a stem with two leaves on either side. Underneath, a round section has a bulbous shape with turquoise stones and a purple band. A gold cap with clear stones is at the bottom, from which a blue stone dangles. The background is gray. The ornament is likely from Tibet and is titled "Ear Ornament for a Deity".
