Teabowl

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Teabowl by Bernard Leach. Black ceramic bowl with rounded body and short foot. The bowl has a rough, textured surface. The top third of the bowl has light-colored glaze that is cracked and uneven. The glaze is darker at the rim and thins out towards the bottom. The light-colored glaze does not cover the entire top third; a large section on the right side is uncovered, exposing the black ceramic underneath. The background is white.
