Bowl

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Bowl by Bernard Leach. A black and white ceramic bowl with a wide mouth and a narrow base, the body rounded and irregularly shaped. The bowl has a glossy glaze that is predominantly white with large areas of black glaze that runs down from the rim to the base. The black glaze does not cover the entire bowl and shows streaks and drips. The base of the bowl is mostly black. The bowl sits on a flat surface with a shadow underneath. The background is plain and light gray.
