Set of Ten Gourd-Shaped Vessels with Reed Design

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Ten small, tan-colored ceramic vessels with gourd-like shapes. Each vessel consists of two bulbous parts stacked on top of each other. The top part is smaller and has a short neck with a small opening at the top. The bottom part is larger and rounded. The vessels have blue and black designs painted on them, resembling leaves or feathers. The designs vary slightly on each vessel. The background is a beige fabric surface with a visible weave pattern. The vessels cast shadows on the surface. They are arranged in two rows.
