Page from Shi Zhu Zhai

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a piece of artwork titled "Page from Shi Zhu Zhai" by an unknown artist. The artwork is a drawing on beige paper with visible darker beige spots, possibly from age or moisture. The drawing depicts a tree branch extending from the top left corner to the bottom left, then turning and going up to the top right corner. The branch has a dark gray wash on it, with the darkest areas at the top. There are flowers drawn on the branch with thin black lines. The flowers are small and have five petals each. Some of the flowers are clustered together, while others are solitary. There are also some leaves drawn on the branch with thin black lines. On the bottom right of the paper, there is a red seal with Chinese characters inside it. Above the seal, there are more Chinese characters written vertically in black ink. The paper appears to be old and worn, with some discoloration and staining. The background behind the paper is solid white.
