Waistcoat

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Cream-colored waistcoat by an unknown artist, titled "Waistcoat". The waistcoat has a high, rounded neckline and armholes that curve slightly upwards. It features a central front closure with four large, round buttons in a vertical line, accompanied by buttonholes. There are two pockets, one on each side, positioned slightly below the waistline. The garment appears to be made of a smooth fabric, possibly silk or cotton, and shows signs of discoloration and wear, particularly around the edges and on the front. The background of the image is solid black.
