Dress

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Dress by Gabrielle Dumas is a gray Victorian-era dress with a fitted, long-sleeved jacket featuring floral lace overlay with a subtle white pattern on a gray background. The jacket has three-quarter length sleeves and is adorned with a large dark gray bow at the neck, and cream-colored lace trim on the collar and cuffs. The jacket buttons down the front with small round buttons. The skirt underneath is full and made of layered gray fabric with horizontal pleats, increasing in depth towards the bottom. A train extends from the back of the skirt. The dress is displayed on a headless white mannequin.
