The coin is circular and made of metal, appearing bronze or copper-colored with darker spots. The coin's edge has a beaded border. The outer rim has a raised inscription that reads "LIBERTE OU MOURIR" on the right side and is illegible on the left side. In the center, there are two raised figures; one is seated on the left and the other stands on the right. The seated figure wears a hat and holds an object. The standing figure holds a long object in one hand and a flag or similar object in the other. The standing figure appears to have wings on its back. The bottom of the coin has raised text that reads "14 JUILLET 1792". The background of the image is gray with a shadow cast by the coin.
