Bookplate: Coat of Arms with James Giles inscribed below

Peter Rushton Maverick

Cleveland Museum of Art

Brownish-tan rectangular paper with a darker-tan-colored illustration. Illustration centered on the paper shows a shield with a lion standing on its lower half. The lion faces left and holds a club-like object in its right paw. The shield is topped with a lion sitting on a rope-like wreath facing left. Multiple flags on poles are on either side of the shield. Under the shield is a ribbon with a laurel wreath on the left and a similar object on the right; the ribbon reads "LIBERTAS ET PATRIA MEA". The ribbon is held by two trumpets on either side. The words "James Giles" are written in cursive under the ribbon.
