Snuff Bottle (stopper)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The object is a stopper for a snuff bottle. The stopper has a rounded red body, likely made of stone or glass, with some illegible writing on the top. A beige, tapered cylindrical stick protrudes from the center of the rounded body. The stick is made of a smooth material, possibly bone or ivory, and tapers to a point at the end. The stick is wrapped with a thin beige material near the base where it meets the rounded body. The stopper rests on a gray surface with a shadow cast behind it.
