Boucicaut Master

Cleveland Museum of Art

A medieval manuscript page with an illustration from the Book of Hours. The illustration depicts two people: a woman with a gold halo wearing a blue dress and an angel with a gold halo wearing a green robe. The woman sits on the right; the angel on the left. The woman's hands are clasped in front of her. The angel holds a scroll in one hand and extends the other toward the woman. Behind them is an ornate arch with a blue dome. The scene is framed by a gold border with floral designs. The border around the page includes flowers, leaves, and vines in shades of blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. The text on the page appears to be calligraphy. The text block at the bottom right of the illustration contains three lines of text. A decorative element resembling a shield or vase with a grid pattern is bottom left of the illustration.
