Fall-front Secretary

Leonard Boudin

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Fall-front Secretary by Leonard Boudin is a tall, narrow cabinet with a flat, rounded top made of light-colored stone or marble with a pink and black pattern. The cabinet body is made of wood with a medium brown color and diagonal striped pattern. The cabinet has two sections: the top section has a single panel with a floral inlay design and a Greek key border, while the bottom section has two panels with the same design. Both sections have ornate gold-colored metal hardware. The sides of the cabinet feature curved gold-colored metal supports with leaf and acanthus leaf designs. The legs are curved and tapered, with gold-colored metal feet. The background is dark gray to black, with a shadow cast by the cabinet.
