The text is in black and reads: "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; For the days of man are but as grass; for he flourishith as a flower of the field. For as soon as the wind goeth over it, it is gone: and the place thereof shall know it no more. Let me be wise in youth, O LORD, that I may tread the way I ought to go; Lead me, and learn me what is right and just, For in thy help, my GOD, I place my trust Ann Blachford Her Work Finished September 2. 1779."
