The illustration is in an arched frame and depicts three wise men approaching a seated Mary and baby Jesus; one wise man stands, two kneel; all wear crowns and long robes, one holds a container of incense, another a flask, the third a gold ornament; Mary wears a blue robe and a white head covering, Jesus wears a gold necklace and sits on her lap; a house with a sloping roof is on the left; two people stand outside the doorway; the border has colorful acanthus leaves, tendrils with flowers, birds and animals including deer, birds, and a dragon; smaller figures of people, some with halos, are also in the border; the background of the illustration is a landscape with rolling hills, a city, and a blue sky with clouds.
