The Goddess Annihilates the Demon Raktabija, from a Devi-Mahatmya

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a battle scene with a white horse in the center-left, facing right. The horse has a long tail and a bridle with a decorative piece on its forehead. It appears to be rearing up. To the right of the horse, there are several men dressed in various colored outfits, including red, yellow, pink, and white. They wear different types of headgear, some resembling crowns or helmets. Most of them hold weapons such as swords, shields, bows, and arrows. Some of the men appear to be falling or have fallen to the ground. On the left side of the image, there is a brown and gold patterned design that resembles clouds or waves. The background of the image is green, with a yellow border at the top featuring black text written in a non-Latin script. A pink border surrounds the entire image. The overall scene suggests a mythological or historical battle, possibly from Indian art given the style and the mention of "Devi-Mahatmya".
