The secrétaire à abattant by Duncan Phyfe features a rectangular body made of dark brown wood with a glossy finish. The body has a flat top with a white marble surface and a decorative molding around the edges. Two protruding rectangular columns are on either side of the piece. The front has a panel at the top and two doors at the bottom; the doors are adorned with small metal handles. The piece rests on four short, square feet. A decorative molding runs along the bottom of the top panel and the top of the doors. The background is gray.
