Sugar Bowl

Christian Wiltberger

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Sugar Bowl by Christian Wiltberger is a large, ornate silver trophy. The base is octagonal. The trophy body is faceted and wider at the top than at the bottom. The body features ornate engravings across the top and bottom. In the center of the body, an engraving depicts a cat sitting on top of a crown. Underneath the cat is an illegible monogram. The stem of the trophy is short and features a decorative line along the bottom. The lid of the trophy has a decorative border around the edge and a finial on top. The finial on top is a large eagle with wings outstretched. The background fades from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom.
