Black and white rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges and rough corners. The fabric features embroidered text and images. At the top, there are embroidered flowers and birds on either side of the alphabet, mostly in capital letters. The alphabet is presented in rows with "OCE" and other letters on the top row; "X K L O R A S T U V", on the second row; and underneath that, the name "Harriet F. Burr". The third row contains the alphabet from A to Z. Below the alphabet, there are two columns of text. The left column reads: "The fleets not the vale of evils Which scence Paint in decimation The season'd blossoms round us Which breath the universal inhalation Fresh lets enjoy our puny hours For mean are anticipated 'Tis fully to neglect the flowers Because they may not always bloom" The right column reads: "But fools for rant and honor seek May not their elevation Are ambitious Paths wind and beat Coxards is irksome station Content is sweet dear Health friendship & a faithful friend And never let the dove repine Because the eagle soars above her" The bottom of the fabric features more embroidered flowers and trees. There are several dark stains scattered across the fabric.
