There are decorative patterns throughout, including rows of Xs, chevrons, diamonds, and circles. The left and right sides have blue stitched images of buildings, some with trees; the buildings are two to three stories with chimneys. The bottom center has a blue palm tree image. The bottom has a poem stitched in blue. The bottom right has the text "wrought by Ann Mc Farlan On the 7th year of her age Rachel Gorton Teac her 1827". The sampler is in a brown wooden frame with a darker brown border.
