Field Ensign

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The "Field Ensign" by Unknown Artist depicts a three-pronged metal weapon with an intricately designed head. The head consists of three long, narrow, rectangular prongs extending upwards, with the central prong featuring a spherical ornament at its top. The prongs and central section are densely covered in engraved text and geometric patterns. A long, thin handle with a similar engraved design extends downwards from the base of the head, with a short section of dark material visible at the bottom. The background is plain white.
