Sword Guard (<i>Tsuba</i>) Depicting Crickets (鈴虫図鐔)
Dark brown, circular sword guard with a textured surface and a teardrop-shaped cutout in the center. Two oval cutouts are on either side of the teardrop shape. Two cricket designs are etched on the surface, one on the top right and one on the bottom right. The crickets are rendered in a simple, detailed style with thin lines. Small dots of gold or brass inlays are scattered around the surface. The background of the image is white.
